On Salinas Planning Commission - Worked on Bruce McPherson and Jeff Denham's Campaigns
Topic: Next Generation of Young Republicans
Steve McShane is Founder, Owner and General Manager of McShane’s Nursery & Landscape Supply. Founded in fall of 2005, McShane’s is Monterey Bay’s newest & premiere location for both retail and commercial plant & landscape material. Steve is a Soil Science graduate from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and has his MBA from Santa Clara University.
Gardening is not the only thing Steve is passionate about as he has been involved in politics much of his professional life. Steve spent five years working for State Senator Bruce McPherson and managed Senator Jeff Denham’s first campaign for Assembly. He served one term on the Hartnell Community College Board of Trustees, including time as Vice- Chair and as Chair.
In 2000, Steve helped to establish the Greater Monterey Bay Young Republicans. He went on to chair the local Young Republicans and more recently helped to re-establish it as the new Young Professional Republicans with the leadership of current chair, Dave Frizzell. Steve has volunteered on numerous local campaigns for local office and seeks to empower and invite the next generation of Young Conservatives to take a leading role in their communities.
Steve is the recipient of the State Outstanding Young Farmer Award from the California Junior Chamber of Commerce. He is also the 2006 winner for the California Farm Bureau Excellence in Agriculture Award. In Spring of 2007, he was awarded the Founders Award from Leadership Monterey Peninsula.
Steve was recently recognized as one of ten Outstanding Young Californians and currently sits on the Planning Commission for the City of Salinas. Other involvement includes Rotary, The Monterey County Young Professionals Group, the Salinas Jaycees and the Young Farmers and Ranchers.
Steve resides in Salinas, California. When not working, Steve can be found running, traveling the planet or growing exotic fruits
in his backyard.

TOPIC: Combating Corruption using Character-Based Leadership Worldwide
Bob Chadwick serves as a volunteer instructor with Pointman Leadership Institute, a non-profit,
non-governmental organization. Pointman Leadership teaches character based ethics to governmental leaders in 50 nations worldwide.
In recent years, Bob has served with Pointman in: Romania, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Liberia, and Afghanistan. He is preparing for a return to both Afghanistan and Liberia during 2009.
Prior to being selected to serve with Pointman, Bob served as an International Supervisor during the 2002 elections in Kosovo after living in Thailand as the Director of the International Justice Center there combating injustice and
oppression in Cambodia, Thailand and SE Asia.
